Since it was Veteran's Day, Jon had both school and work off. Both Keira and I were thrilled about that. We thought we would make the best of his day off, so we decided that we would have a picnic and go to the park. It was a beautiful/breezy day here in Vegas. Keira enjoyed chasing around the birds and playing in the grass. In honor of veterans day we dressed Keira in her American Flag T-shirt, blue shorts and red hair clip. A special thanks to all those men and women who are serving and have served for the amazing country. A very special thanks to my dad. Thank you!!!!

2. Flowers
3. Stairs
5. "Driving"
4. Climbing

What a fun life she has! Not a worry in the world. Hopefully us adults can also enjoy the simple pleasures in life, as we once did when we were little wee ones.

President Obama
It is finally over!!! Both McCain and Obama fought hard for this night. Both men delivered heart felt speeches filled with such emotion, strength and determination to show to the rest of the world that we are and will always be thee most powerful country. I'm not wanting to make this post about my views on various issues regarding both of the Candidates, I want to show that I am too able to see the good in any situation given to me. I was not a supportor of Senator Obama, but he is our President now and I hope we can come together as fellow Americans and move forward.
Can I just say -What an amazing opportunity to have, as Americans, to witness a true moment in History. President Obama is the first African-American President. Put aside your feelings about his political views; put aside your personal opinions of him as a person...I'm simply wanting to focus on the fact that he represents something that has never been in the White House. A strong, educated African American Man and that alone is awesome. I don't agree with him on certain issues (a lot of issues actually) and I would be lying if I said I was not scared of what his political views may bring into this country- BUT I will say again, I feel lucky to have been able to see a great moment in History. A moment where the color of your skin did not affect you, in the hopes and dreams of becoming the President of the United States of America. (for those who really know me, know that I'm all about embracing all different types of racial backgrounds and appreciating the wide range of diversity that we have in the U.S.A) So with that being said-It's going to be an interesting 4 years. I'm sure there are going to be a lot of highs and lows...Hopefully more highs.
And yes, I took pictures of the TV. I wanted to document this moment on my camera..thank you very much! haha
Funny Jokes...
Both Jon and I have a great sense of humor. I thought I would post funny jokes periodically to brighten up your day. Enjoy!
4 potatoes
Q: If there were 4 potatoes in a room, which one would be the prostitute?
A: The one that's labeled "IDAHO"
Yo Mama Jokes:
Yo mama so old she has a picture of Moses in her yearbook.
Yo mama so stupid when your dad said it was chilly outside, she ran outside with a spoon

MT. Charleston
This morning we drove out to Mt. Charleston...which is about an hour away. Jon discovered this place a couple weeks back bc he had to go out there for work. He kept telling me over and over how pretty is was and how you don't even feel as though you're in Vegas. Its green, beautiful and a "breath of fresh air" So, we packed up a backpack with some sweaters (something that we never use here in Vegas) and headed west towards the mountains. It was sooo nice to see green and adorable log cabin homes. He was right, you felt as though you were in the middle of nowhere, with nothing but beautiful trees and nature surrounding you. We went on a little hike and Keira was so thrilled to see sooo many rocks, trees, and birds. I was stressed out the entire time though...I admit that I am a worrier, but that was TOO much for me. I was afraid that she would slip and fall, or that an animal would smell our cheese crackers and would eat us, and then to top it off-there was a lot of rattling in the bushes. Of course I automatically thought that it was a predator stocking us...Jon was laughing none stop with my worries. He loves to make fun of me. Then when we reached our destination, Keira said "Shnake!" Jon looked over and said "ahh!!! It is a snake!" I screamed and maybe said a little curse word. He started laughing (again) and said "Just kidding!!!!" He is always on the look out to scare me...What a little terd. But overall, it was a beautiful, cold and refreshing day in the Mountains. Keira was tuckered out after her hike. She fell asleep reading her book. Poor baby!
Trick or Treat
Trick or Treat, Smell my Feet, Give me something good to eat...
Keira refused to take her nap during the day, so when it came time to go out and trick or treat, she was more interested in going to bed. She cried, kicked, and tried to wiggle her way out of her adorable Ballerina costume-But as soon as we got outside and knocking on doors-she put a smile on her face and had a blast. I had flashbacks of when I was a little girl while watching my daughter trick or treating. I NEVER enjoyed going door to door asking strangers for candy. I was deathly afraid of everyone!!!!!! Don't get me wrong, I LOVED getting candy, but asking for it was a whole different story. Keira is the same way. She wrapped her arms around Jon's leg and refused to look at the person who was giving her candy. But as soon as she saw what she got in her bag, she was happy. Like mother like daughter I guess. She enjoyed knocking on the door but did not enjoy seeing someone answering it.
Anywho-the night turned out great. The little girls had a great time. Keira was a ballerina, Brookie (our niece) was a bumble bee. Both girls wore a cute halloween outfit during the day, then their costume's in the evening. I managed to get a picture of Brookie with her day time outfit, but forgot to take one of my own child. Whoops! But Brookie looks adorable!!!
Visiting Popo
My grandmother (Popo) has recently moved back to Las Vegas from Hawaii. We are thrilled to have her so close to us. Since I made sooo many tasty treats for Halloween, I wanted to share some with her. She was so excited about each and every sugar infused treat. Jon and I spent about an hour at her place catching up on school, work, Keira, and her favorite topic...Politics. We love her so much and are sooooooo lucky to have her in our lives.
Halloween Yummies
We had a fun filled Halloween. We had a small Halloween Fiesta with tasty homemade goodies. All in attendance: Jon, Erin, Keira, Jill, Brookie, Megan and Sarah. For dinner I made homemade Chicken Taquitos, Homemade Mexican Rice, and Black Beans. Of course we needed something with sugar, so I made (with the help of Megan & Jon) Carmel apples, Chocolate Cockroaches, Chocolate/Carmel Popcorn, Ghost Suckers, and Halloween cupcakes with worms on top.
